The Autism Conference is filled with exciting and relevant information to help educators and parents assist children with autism spectrum disorders. Day One features information on Social Stories, an evidence-based practice used worldwide for people with autism. Participants will receive a certificate at the end of the all-day session. Day Two includes breakout sessions on legislative updates, technology applications, transition services and more!

The Equity and Inclusion institute is a learning opportunity that seeks to inform, help, and strengthen pedagogical practices for educators. This institute serves as one of the ways Harris County Schools can addresses cultural competence, culturally responsive teaching, rigor, differentiation, building relationships and closing opportunity gaps. Instructional equity is not merely in addition to teaching, leadership, or behavior. It is an essential component that embodies the quintessential aspects of best practices and will outlast initiatives and programs that arrive of and depart throughout the years.
With 1 in 5 American students being dyslexic, consider how many are sitting in the general education classroom and we don't know how to address their needs. Back by popular demand HCDE is hosting The Dyslexia Summit. This year we will dive deeper into strategies, accommodations and evidence based instructional practices that the GENERAL EDUCATION teacher can use with ALL students!. And YES, Special Education teachers and interventionists are welcome also.
The 32nd Annual R.T. Garcia Early Childhood Winter Conference will feature keynote speakers Dr. Becky A. Bailey and Dr. Gilberto Soto.
Bailey is an award-winning author, renowned teacher and internationally recognized expert in childhood education and developmental psychology. Her workshops touch thousands of lives each year, and her top selling book titles have over 1,000,000 copies in circulation.
Soto is currently professor of Music Education/Guitar at Texas A&M International University. He teaches early childhood, elementary and secondary bilingual music education courses.
