WHAT IS ECI Keep Pace-HCDE?
ECI Keep Pace-HCDE, one of 58 ECI programs in Texas, helps families with infants who are developing later than children their age in sitting, walking, talking or playing with toys. Click here to find the program in your area.
WHO IS SERVED?
A child under the age of 3 with developmental delays in:
movement
communication
social skills
eating, dressing, toileting
problem solving

Diagnosed conditions such as:
Down Syndrome
seizure disorder

Unusual development in:
movement skills
behavior
WHERE ARE CHILDREN SERVED?
In natural environments such as: home
child care
mother's day out
other community sites
WHO MAY REFER?
Anyone
WHICH SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE SERVED?
Thirteen school districts, with Harris County Department of Education as the host agency.

WHEN SHOULD ECI BE CALLED?
if a baby was premature or weighed less than 3-1/2 pounds
if a 3-month old does not hold a rattle
if a 6-month old doesn't look toward voices or noise
if an 8-month old is not sitting
if a 12-month old does not say mama or dada
if a 12-month old cannot pick up small objects such as food, toys or a spoon
if a 12-month old does not play with toys
if a 15-month old is not walking
WHAT SUPPORTS ARE PROVIDED BY PROFESSIONAL/ CERTIFIED STAFF?
Supports provided to families to assist their children could include:
screenings and assessments, including hearing and vision
physical, occupational, speech and language therapy
strategies to develop learning and self-help skills
strategies to help social and emotional development
assistive technology
nutritional services
support to child care or preschool teachers of enrolled children
transition for a child at the age of 3 to an appropriate setting
follow along services

Additional supports to families could include:
family events and parent education programs access to community resources
lending library - books and toys
