Our schools serve Harris County school districts with three programs and feature individualized learning or small group instruction in highly structured classes, our schools prepare students to return to their home schools to be successful and ultimately graduate with their classmates.
Providing Alternative Pathways for Student Success—Ages 5 to 22
Districts contract with us for our highly specialized educational services for their students ages 5-22 with emotional and academic special needs with our Academic and Behavior Schools. Our alternative schools offer at-risk students in grades 6-12 a second chance at success. Highly structured learning environments make our Highpoint Schools effective with adjudicated or expelled youth.

ABS - East: Dr. Donna Treviño-Jones gives her heart and instructional expertise to the ABS East students and community. Jones has served as campus leader since 2019, but brings 30 years of classroom and leadership experience.
Highpoint: Marion Cooksey believes establishing a relationship with students is key to their success and leading a safe and healthy lifestyle. Cooksey has been with HCDE for 14 years and is the Principal of Highpoint School.
Fortis Academy: Dr. Anthony Moten is the founding principal for the county's public recovery high school. Students come to Fortis and find acceptance, forgiveness, and the path to a healthy and successful future.
ABS - West: Dr. Victor Keys has served HCDE students and their families since 2007.Keys' staff says he leads by example and truly cares for the well being of his staff, students and school community.
