Josh Flynn

President

Position 4, Precinct 3

Josh Flynn serves as president of the HCDE Board of Trustees and as trustee for Position 4, Precinct 3. 

Flynn is a licensed tax professional chartered through the IRS and specializes in nonprofit accounting. He formerly served as trustee for a university in Bethany, Oklahoma. His immediate goal in office is to make HCDE as transparent as possible. Long-term, he will promote efficiency, directing maximum benefits to Harris County students. 

Flynn began his term January 2019 with the term expiring December 2024.

Dr. George Moore

Vice President

Position 1, Precinct 2

Dr. George P. Moore serves as vice president for Harris County Department of Education Position 1, Precinct 2. 

Dr. Moore is currently the campus pastor for Champion Forest Baptist Church in Jersey Village. He has 41 years of experience in project management at KBR and is also adjunct instructor for the University of Houston.

Dr. Moore holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He earned a doctorate in worship studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies. Dr. Moore has created multiple scholarship endowment funds, including a triple negative breast cancer research endowed fund at the University of Alabama in honor of his late wife, Lin.

Moore began his term January 2017 with the term expiring December 2022.

 

Richard Cantu

Position 3, At-Large

Richard Cantu serves as trustee for Harris County Department of Education Position 3, At-Large.

Richard is the deputy executive director of the East Aldine Management District and has held a number of nonprofit and municipal leadership positions. 

Cantu began his term January 2019 with the term expiring December 2024.

Eric Dick

Board Member

Position 2, Precinct 4

Eric Dick serves as a trustee of the HCDE Board of Trustees and as trustee for Position 2, Precinct 4.

Dick is a homeowner’s insurance lawyer and owner of Dick Law Firm, PLLC.

After obtaining an associate degree from Community College, he gained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. He obtained a Juris Doctor of Law degree from Western Michigan University and a Master's in Laws and Letters degree from the University of Alabama.

Dick began his term January 2017 with the term expiring December 2022.

 

Danyahel (Danny) Norris

Board Member

Position 6, Precinct 1

Danyahel (Danny) Norris serves as trustee for Harris County Department of Education Position 6, Precinct 1. 

Norris is an associate director and instructor of law at Thurgood Marshall School of Law on the campus of Texas Southern University. He is a practicing intellectual property attorney, principal partner of Norris & Norris Attorneys and Counselors at Law and is a past president of the Houston Lawyers Association. He shares his leadership skills through various professional organizations, including the New Leaders Council, Houston chapter.

 Norris began his term January 2019 with the term expiring December 2024.

Don Sumners

Board Member

Position 7, At-Large

Don Sumners serves as trustee for Harris County Department of Education Position 7. 

Sumners is a certified public accountant and the former Harris County Tax Assessor/Collector.

He serves on the Audit and Budget Board committees for HCDE and is the Board representative to the Head Start Policy Council.

Sumners began his term January 2015 with the term expiring December 2020.

Mike Wolfe

Position 5, At-Large

Mike Wolfe serves as an elected trustee for Harris County Department of Education in Position 5, At-Large. Wolfe previously served a term as an HCDE Trustee in Position 3, At-Large. 

Wolfe began his term January 2015 with the term expiring December 2020.
