AFTERSCHOOL
Enrichment for Kids After School
The Center for After School, Summer and Enrichment for Kids (CASE for Kids) was created in 1999 under the mission to strengthen, support and sustain afterschool programs and out-of-school time activities. Acting as a local afterschool intermediary, CASE for Kids provides funding, coaching, resources and trainings to support afterschool programs across 25 school districts and various community organizations within Harris County.
CASE FOR KIDS
The Harris County Department of Education formed the Center for Afterschool, Summer and Enrichment (CASE) for Kids formerly the Cooperative for After-School Enrichment in 1999, to mobilize the community to work together to ensure that every child in Harris County has access to an after-school program. CASE for Kids has been endorsed by all 25 Houston/Harris County School Superintendents. After-school programs keep kids safe, help working families, and improve academic achievement.
CASE for Kids VISION:
A connected community investing in opportunities for youth.
CASE for Kids MISSION:
Strengthen, support, and sustain afterschool programs and out-of-school time activities.
CASE for Kids is moving forward to accomplish two goals:
• Increase the number of after-school programs and the capacity of existing after-school programs
• Improve the quality of after-school programs in Houston/Harris County
CASE for Kids employs three strategies to achieve these goals:
Enhancing quality by developing high quality programs and well-trained staff in the out-of-school time field.
Expanding Resources by providing resources for programs to enhance and expand their services.
Cultivating Driving Change by promoting sustainability by leveraging funds and developing strategic partnerships.
